Email

James wants to hear anything you have to say, even if it's just to say 'hi.'

You can also record your own audio files for the show and send them as attachments under 10 megabytes.  Promos for your podcast, audio messages, or even your own original music.

Skype

Skype lets people talk to each other over the internet for free.  I've got a Skype voice mail box set up so you can leave me a message from the microphone on your computer.  Or you could suggest I interview you just for the hell of it.

Skype is free software that you download and use like MSN, except there's less hassle and it's a better program for talking.

Here's my online status. You can call and leave a message in "Online," "Away" and "Skype Me" but not if the below button reads "Offline."

About Podcasting

What is podcasting?

The distribution of audio or video files, such as radio programs or music videos, over the internet using either RSS or Atom syndication for listening on mobile devices such as MP3 players and personal computers. A podcast is a web feed of audio or video files placed on the Internet for anyone to download or subscribe to, and also the content of that feed. Podcasters' websites also may offer direct download of their files, but the subscription feed of automatically delivered new content is what distinguishes a podcast from a simple download or real-time streaming. (Wikipedia)

Syndication

Syndication is what makes podcasting great.  Using something called RSS feeds, you can subscribe to a show (for free) and get new episodes of that show automatically.   iTunes and other programs that are called 'aggregators' download the mp3 files automatically for you as they are released to the public.

"Subscribing"

Here are instructions on how to subscribe with some popular free programs which are used for subscribing to podcasts and video blogs:

Download and install a podcast client like iTunes or iPodder.

Copy the URL of one of the podcasts (look for an XML or RSS button that will link to the feed URL).

On Windows, right-click on the PODCAST FEED button (or this link here), and select "Copy Shortcut." On Mac, control-click and hold the mouse button down, then select, "copy link."

Here's the link to my podcast feed that you can copy and paste into the software of your choice:

With iTunes, go to the ADVANCED menu at the top of the screen and select "Subscribe to a Podcast." Then paste the URL into the window that opens, click "OK."

or just click on this button if you have
iTunes installed:

With iPodder, go to the SUBSCRIPTIONS tab and click ADD NEW FEED. Paste the URL into that window.
